I understood that Live Oak Park would be a short stair course, and it was just that. Nice, but short, real short. A total of 89 steps or so and less than 1 mile of distance around this park. I climbed up 12 steps to get to street level and then I crossed Walnut st and entered the top of the park. To the left of the Park stood the Berkeley Art Center (photo 1), which seemed intriguing. It's open to the public on Wednesday from 12 to 5 Pm. I walked past this and took a 20 step wooden stairway (photo 2) to Oxford St. Then I turned left and climbed down 23 winding steps (photo 3), with graffiti on the wall. Then I passed by the art center again and found my way back. It was a delightful stroll, but hardly qualifies as a stairway walk and arguably doesn't count at all. Nevertheless it was a nice park.

EAST BAYLike San Francisco, there are hundreds of stairs located in the East Bay, just across the Bay Bridge. Oakland, Berkeley, El Cerrito, Piedmont, and Albany have hundreds of secret stairs. Categories
